CropLife Retail Week: Nutrien Mine Tour, Farm Loans, and Remembering Ag-Chem Equipment Founder Al McQuinn

Last week, I spent part of my time at the Wisconsin Crop Management Conference in Madison, WI. Not only is this annual meeting a great place to see some of the latest ag retail equipment on the market, but a gathering place for lots of seminars focusing on all aspects of the agricultural industry.

In addition to gathering information, I also had the distinct privilege of presenting the 2012 CropLife IRON Product of the Year trophy to its winner – the NITRO 5000 Series sprayer manufactured by Miller-St. Nazianz. Since Miller is based in the state of Wisconsin, it only made sense to have the formal trophy presentation take place at the Badger State’s annual winter trade show.

“It is my honor to accept this award on behalf of Miller and the NITRO sprayer,” said Todd Frish, territory manager for the company. “It’s nice to know that the readers of CropLife IRON think the NITRO 5000 is as special as we at Miller believe it.”

In truth, winning the Product of the Year award is nothing new for Miller. The company has had two previous winners – the Condor G-Series in 2009 and the HydraLink Suspension system in 2007.

When asked how Miller-St. Nazianz has been able to capture three Product of the Year trophies in six years, Frish put it down to the company’s willingness to listen to its customers. “We are always talking with our customers, finding out what kinds of features they would like in our products and making the necessary adjustments,” he said.

So, on behalf of CropLife IRON magazine, its readers and all the other participants in the 2012 competition, congratulations Miller-St. Nazianz!
