Voting For 2013’s CropLife IRON Product Of The Year Begins

As the calendar turns to fall, various groups are getting ready to present awards to the year’s best in (insert your category/person/product here). Here at CropLife, we are no different.

Earlier this month, our magazine sent out its annual CropLife 100 survey, gathering information on the nation’s largest ag retailers. This data will be presented at-large in our December 2013 issue.

And over at sister publication CropLife IRON, the nominations have been announced for the annual Product of the Year competition. Now in its 7th year, the Product of the Year award honors that one piece of Big IRON that has captured the attention of the entire ag retail equipment marketplace above all others. This year’s nominees range from three self-propelled sprayers from AGCO, Case IH and John Deere to two other pieces of field equipment from Doyle and DuoLift.

Now, of course, it is up to you, the reader, to determine which of these five products is the best of 2013. Starting this Friday, September 27, readers can cast votes for their favorite product by visiting www.croplife.com/poy. Ballots will be accepted now until Friday, November 1, with the winner being announced during one of this winter’s trade shows.

Speaking on a personal level, it has been great over the years, not only giving out the Product of the Year trophy to the winning company but seeing how they treat the honor afterwards. For example, at the 2013 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY, I happened to visit the Miller-St. Nazianz booth. There on a table, at the base of one of the company’s sprayers, were its three Product of the Year trophies. This included the one Miller-St. Nazainz won in 2012.

“We wanted to show people here at the show that our products are award winners,” said Miller-St. Nazianz’s Tim Criddle.

This year, another worthy product will join this honored group. So be sure to vote later this week for your favorite. And as always, may the best product win!
