Brehmer Anniversary Celebration Highlights Company History, Product Innovation

On October 4, Brehmer Mfg. welcomed customers, partners, and members of the community to its headquarters in Lyons, NE, to celebrate 50 years of success. The open house event was a perfect way to celebrate the company’s diversity, innovation, and family history with the public. The company, which manufactures fertilizer, hog, and recycling equipment, has been led by three generations of Brehmers. It’s this impressive legacy that has been so important to the company’s sustained success.

“Serving the agricultural industry for 50 years is a significant milestone for us at Brehmer Mfg.,” says Vice President Alex Brehmer, who is part of the third generation to help lead the company.  “It reflects our deep commitment to quality and reliability, rooted in our identity as a family-owned business. This legacy has allowed us to build strong, trusting customer relationships.”

Understanding the unique needs of farmers over the years — and adapting to those needs — has been so critical to supporting them effectively, Alex says. “It is not just about the products we offer,” he says. “It’s about being a dependable partner. We continue to ask ourselves, ‘How would we like to be treated?’ and stand true to it. We are grateful for all the relationships that we have built over the years and could not thank our supporters enough. Together, let’s keep pushing the limits.”

In addition to building customer relationships, Brehmer Mfg. has always valued the importance of embracing change, says Joe Brehmer, who has been running the company since taking over for his father, Rey, in 1998.

“While we’ve always been an ag-based business, I’ve always been interested in a variety of manufacturing applications,” Joe says. “When we were approached by what is now Eagle International to help them build tire recycling equipment, it was exciting to learn about a new avenue of work and a challenge to make an impact on it. Granted, not every new idea has been a success, but the things we learned from trying and failing, or having deals not pan-out, has been invaluable to the projects that have since become our main products.”

Brehmer’s separate business divisions – fertilizer equipment, hog equipment, and tire recycling equipment – have played a huge role in the success of the company, as well as its employees, Joe adds. “While the markets in one area might be hurting, we can try and make up for the difference in another area of the shop,” he says. “It helps keep our workers busy, prevents layoffs, helps us stay in business, and in turn, helps our local community.”

As Brehmer Mfg. looks ahead to the next 50 years, the company remains dedicated to shaping the future of agriculture, Alex says.

“As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are more committed than ever to shaping the future of agriculture,” he says. “We like to focus on making innovative and functional products and we are invested in creating solutions that address current challenges and anticipate future needs. By collaborating with farmers and industry experts, the Brehmer brand has developed a reputation for products that enhance productivity and limit downtime. This dedication positions us as a forward-thinking leader in the agricultural sector, ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. We are excited for the future; our team is just getting started.”
