Over the past six years, CropLife IRON has annually asked its readers to vote for their favorite new product introduction during the past year from a list of five finalists. During the course of a one-month time period, readers can cast their ballots for the one product they think stands out from the crowd, worthy of the title of Product of the Year. In 2012, the winner of this coveted trophy was Wisconsin-based Miller-St. Nazianz.
The company’s NITRO 5000 Series self-propelled sprayer was judged the best new product of 2012 by the readers of CropLife IRON, receiving approximately 45% of the total votes cast. The award was presented to Miller-St. Nazianz at the Wisconsin Crop Management Conference, held in Madison, WI, in mid-January.
“We appreciate the recognition,” said Todd Frish, territory manager for the company, in accepting the honor. “We at Miller are constantly looking at improving the crop application industry, where things are constantly changing. With our products like the NITRO 5000 Series, we are just trying to stay ahead of the game.”
“It was my pleasure to present this award to Miller-St. Nazianz, which has won three Product of the Year honors over the past six years,” said Eric Sfiligoj, editor of CropLife and CropLife IRON. “The company has clearly found a winning formula for engaging not only its customers, but the overall marketplace as well.”
NITRO Features
The NITRO 5000 Series is available in a wide range of tank sizes, boom widths and horsepower configurations, with optional Miller Quick-Attach and Injection Toolbar, in a total of seven models. All are available with four-wheel steering option. These include the 5215, 5240, 5275, 5333 and the 5365. As of January 1, two new 5000 Series models have been made available: The 5345 and the 5400. These two new models are the first to feature our new Tier IV interim emissions solutions from Cummins, with increased fuel efficiency.
According to Frish, one of the crowning touches to the NITRO 5000 Series sprayers is the company’s SprayView and optional Premium SprayView cab. “With operator comfort in mind for operators who can spend up to 16 hours in the unit, we set out to develop a cab setting that is larger, roomier, with greater visibility and superior ergonomic features,” said Frish. Other highlights of the cab include a clean, uncluttered environment with CAN-bus wiring, 12-volt power points throughout, easy-to-reach armrest and joystick controls and a new Miller Systems Monitor to manage the chassis operations. The Premium SprayView cab features a suede leather air-ride seat with active suspension and heating/cooling.
