New Patriot Sprayer Wins 2013 CropLife IRON Product Of The Year
Each year, CropLife magazine’s sister publication, CropLife IRON, has chosen five of the year’s best and most exciting products to compete in the annual Product of the Year contest. For several weeks each fall, readers vote for their favorite pieces of Big IRON online that were introduced during the calendar year.
For the 2013 competition, more than 1,100 votes were cast for the five participants. And when the final numbers were tallied, two products ended up
in a virtual dead-heat for the top spot. So, instead of quibble over the difference of a few votes, CropLife IRON decided to honor two machines in 2013 as co-Product of the Year winners.
One of the co-winners was the Patroit 2240 self-propelled sprayer from Case IH, Racine, WI. Accepting the award for the company was Ken Lehmann, sales and marketing manager, application equipment.
“I am honored to once again be able to accept a CropLife IRON Product of the Year trophy on behalf of Case IH,” said Lehmann, taking possession of the award at the annual Agricultural Retailers Association meeting in early December. “There was a lot of hard work put into designing this latest Patriot sprayer and it’s good to know the marketplace feels the product is worth such an honor.”
Patriot 2240 Features The Patriot 2240 features a cab-forward, rear-engine configuration to ensure optimum weight distribution to minimize compaction or rutting potential, which is key when operators need to access wet fields during short spray windows. It also has trailing-link suspension and the three-speed hydrostatic transmission, designed to provide reliable shifting and efficient transfer of engine power to the ground. The Patriot 2240 offers big sprayer features like optional automatic boom section control, automatic boom height control, AFS AccuGuide autoguidance and the AIM Command spray system. The new sprayer comes with a Tier 4A-compliant 165-hp, 6.7-liter Case IH FPT engine.
“The Patriot 2240 offers two boom lengths, two different plumbing configurations, a centrally located service center and a wide range of precision agriculture technology options, all of which are designed to provide a quality application and make the best use of a user’s time in the field,” said Mark Burns, Case IH application equipment marketing manager. “Producers and commercial applicators can easily and quickly learn how to operate the Patriot 2240, plus be remarkably precise when spraying.”
“I am happy to be able to present this trophy to Case IH on behalf of the readers of CropLife IRON,” said Eric Sfiligoj, editor for CropLife and CropLife IRON. “The Patriot 2240 is another fine entry in the award-winning Patriot family line.”
