Ag Industry Responds To Report On Water Pollution And Farming Practices
On April 12, the Environmental Working Group (EWG), issued a report titled Troubled Waters – Farm Pollution Threatens Drinking Water. To summarize, the report’s stated premise is “America’s drinking water is at risk from poor farming practices that contaminate streams, lakes and groundwater with fertilizer and manure.” The Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) has obtained two responses from agriculture industry groups on this subject. ARA encourages members to utilize these talking points if they receive questions from the media or interact with policy makers.
- Click here for talking points prepared by The Fertilizer Institute and the Agricultural Nutrient Policy Council (ANPC). ARA is also a member of the ANPC.
- The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA) has developed the Grow What You Know response to this examination and has distributed it through the Grow What You Know tool on fooddialogues.com. Please feel free to pass this information on to your farmer customers for them to share in response to the report.
